As most others, we have been struggling with keeping ourselves, our loved ones, and all around us safe while doing our best to keep working towards our research goals. We curtailed all field work in 2020, but were able to safely conduct field work in Yellowstone and the Medicine Bow Mountains in August of 2021 before the delta variant surge. We have been able to get a few papers submitted the past year, with a few poised for publishing the end of 2021/beginning of 2022, and our amazing collaborators have been crushing it. Also, to add to the fun, The Fringe Lab and MAD EGG Lab both moved to new office and lab spaces in the Biological Sciences Building (Fringe to the 8th floor, MEL to the 6th floor) on the Saint Paul Campus of UMN. MAD EGG Lab is excited to have everything together in one space (we had been spread out between multiple spaces in Tate on the East Bank Campus), but is also fortunate to retained office space in Tate to help maintain our connections there. We were also especially excited to find that along with getting tenure this summer, Professor Trinity Hamilton was awarded the McKnight Presidential Fellowship by UMN, a prestigious recognition of her research, teaching, and service excellence since joining the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology at UMN.
